Obsessions Of The Week - 3/7/14
"Ash and Ember" - Augustana
Okay, so Augustana is really just Dan Layus now… but he's still incredible. He released a new single this week and it's everything we've been waiting on. The headlining tour kicks off in Nashville in April, with Twin Forks (Chris Carrabba) supporting. If you want to have feelings, circa 2005, this is your show. Augustana's new album, "Life Imitating Life" comes out April 22.

"Songs On The Radio" - Favorite Sons
My dudes in Favorite Sons put on a hell of a live show. I've been itching to get my hands… ears? on some new music from them and they didn't disappoint me. You can grab "Songs On The Radio" free from their site right now, and you definitely should. They've been in the studio recently, laying down some more stuff, which should see the light of day soon. Check 'em out and definitely catch one of their shows if you're in town.
RIYL: Springsteen, Gaslight Anthem, Drive By Truckers, Good Music…

STILL OBSESSED: "It Is What It Is" - Kacey Musgraves
I feel pretty safe saying that Kacey is Country Music's Jennifer Lawrence. We all kind of love her and want her to be our best friend. I've been obsessed with her for over two years now, but she's been kicking around Nashville for much longer. Her song "Follow Your Arrow" has been credited as being a song for our generation (bucking traditional country values), but "It Is What It Is" is what stands out to me. This ain't your typical 'booty call' song. This is an anthem for girls in their mid-20s. It hits a little too close to home for me sometimes, AND I LOVE IT. "Maybe I love you, maybe I'm just kind of bored... / It is what it is, til it aint, anymore". BAM.
