Obsessions Of The Week - 4/11/14
AHHHHH it's been a while. I got a little caught up going to the beach and turning 26, my apologies. I'm back on track now and ready to share what I've been obsessed with this week… my first week of my 26th year.
Cope - Manchester Orchestra
Most Manchester Orchestra fans are INTENSE. They would go to war for Andy Hull and crew. They eat up everything MO even glances at and offer full support for all their Favorite Gentlemen friends and alumni. I'm not THAT intense, but pretty close. I've been a loyal fan for several years now and loved all previous releases, but this one REALLY connected with me. In fact, if you've seen me driving in the past week, I've probably been singing "I don't…. I won't… I don't CHOOOOOOSEEE YOUUU" at the top of my lungs. Sorry traffic. Hull just sounds really fired up this whole album, and I love it. They're playing Cannery Ballroom (with Kevin Devine!) on May 31st and you'd be a fool to miss it.
Favorite Tracks: Choose You, Top Notch, Girl Harbor

Ledges - Noah Gundersen
This was a bit of a late pass, it took me a few weeks to settle down and listen to this album. In all fairness, you really have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to Noah Gundersen. That's not a bad thing by any means, I just have to prepare myself to have some feelings while listening along. Like… I'd recommend NOT trying to listen to The First Defeat while driving home from hanging out with a boy who's broken your heart multiple times. Or while on a long, contemplative drive. Really, don't listen to this album while driving. Pop this in, or que it up when you're home alone and need to come to grips with reality. Noah's always been an incredible, earnest songwriter and he flourishes on this record.
Favorite Tracks: The First Defeat, Cigarettes, Poor Man's Son

My ROADTRIP Playlist
Roadtrips are often romanticized in films and books, and usually there's a killer soundtrack to accompany them. When I was getting ready to make the eternal (8+ Hours) drive from Nashville to Charleston, I knew I needed several hours of music. Thankfully I wasn't going to be alone for my entire journey (BFF Lauren joined), but this also presented a little challenge. I know ALL the songs I love, BUT was she going to be just as excited as I was when a Saves the Day B-side came up on shuffle? This had to be a mix of all of our favorite songs, both individually and collectively. Not only did we listen to it on the drive down to the coast, and back up, but we kept it on shuffle all while driving around Charleston for the weekend. Subscribe and try it out if you'd like. I'm sure there will be some hidden jams for you. I mean, there's 520 songs = 31 Hours and 2 Minutes.
